Andean Discoveries Trip Itinerary
Half day tour of Cusco . City tour.
Full day tour of the Sacred Valley, Pisaq, including its traditional market; Ollantaytambo and buffet lunch at Sacred Valley.
Hiking to Machu Picchu four days. Or Mollepata to Machu Picchu 5 days.
Trip by tourist bus from Cusco to Lake Titicaca stopping at places of interest along the way. Includes lunch.
Two day tour of the Islands of Lake Titicaca.

Day 1: Arrival in Lima.
Airport reception and transfer to your hotel in Lima. Most international flights arrive late in the evening.

Day 2: Lima to Cusco.
Early morning transfer to the airport for your flight from Lima to Cusco (approx. flight time 1 hour). We'll meet you at the airport in Cusco and take you to your hotel. In the hotel you'll receive a tour briefing about your itinerary and a cup of coca leaf tea which is excellent for altitude sickness discomfort, and then take a short rest prior to lunch. In the afternoon our local guide will take you on a private city tour of Cusco. Including the Temple of the Sun, the nearby Inca ruins of Sacsayhuaman, Q’enko, Pucapucara and Tambomachay, and the wonderful Cusco cathedral.

Includes:
Transfer from hotel to Lima airport and Cusco, airport reception and transfer to hotel in Cusco. Private tour of City of Cusco including professional English-speaking guide, and all entrance fees. Comfortable hotel (***stars) with private bathroom in Cusco, centrally located.

Day 3: Free day in Cusco.
Today is a wonderful opportunity to relax and enjoy Cusco. You can visit some of Cusco's best museums and art galleries. You'll have a chance to buy some jewelry. Also you can enjoy a coffee in one of the many cafe balconies overlooking the main Plaza de Armas. (See our optional day trips).

Day 4: The Sacred Valley of the Incas
Today you'll take a full day private tour to visit the Sacred Valley of the Incas. Departing from your hotel at 9 am, we will take you in private transportation (depending on the size of the group). The traditional Indian market at Pisaq is on Sundays, Tuesdays and Thursdays. This market has remained unchanged for a couple hundred years and the Andean people still wear their traditional very colorful costumes. It is really a handicraft market. They sell  locally made items such as hand-painted pottery as well as some antiques, textiles made from soft alpaca sweaters and scarves.

The option if you do not go to the Pisaq market is to visit the Pisaq ruins. On the way to Ollantaytambo we have a buffet, then go to Ollantaytambo, a live Inca town, and the ruins on the edge of town. You spend the night in town.

Days 5-8: Inca Trail to Machu Ppicchu 4 day Trek
This is when the adventure really starts. The Incas were great builders who created the most astonishing road network in the world. Almost 42,000 kilometers of Inca roads ran through a sizable part of South America. Many of roads are still in use today. The Inca Trail is a 45km mountainous trek famous for its beauty and Inca ruins along the way. After spending two days in Cusco you should be fully acclimatized to the high altitude. We'll pick you up from your hotel early in the morning and drive to km82; which is the start of the trail. The first day of the trek is relatively easy, following a winding path beside the Cusichaca River. The second day is more demanding as you climb the highest pass at 4200m. The third day is a longing  but beautiful day passing many of the Inca ruins such as Runkurakay, Sayacmarca, Phuyupatamarca and Wiñaywayna. The trail also passes through a small tunnels as well as a cloud forest filled with colorful birds and wild orchids. You also  see nice views such as snow- capped Salkantay, Humantay, Pumasillo, and Palcantay.

Arrival at Machu Picchu for sunrise in the morning of the final day is the climax of a tiring yet rewarding trek through the Andes. Late in the afternoon you'll return by train to Cusco.

Day 9: Cusco to Puno, Lake Titicaca.
Bus from Cusco to Puno. It takes about 8 hours to Puno and the comfortable bus ride is accompanied by a local English-speaking guide who will tell you about many places you will stop and visit along the route. Also the tour includes a traditional lunch on the way. On this trip you’ll be able to rest and enjoy the beautiful Andean scenery,around the highest lake of the world. We hopefully arrive in Puno by afternoon, then to your hotel to settle in. Puno is very well known as the capital of Peru's folklore with handicrafts, festivals, dance with traditional costumes, and rich music. Overnight in Puno.

Day 10: Lake Taticaca - Uros & Amantani.
In the morning we pick you up from your hotel and take you to the port of Puno. By motor launch you'll enjoy one of most beautiful flood islands of the Uros and this is on  the highest lake in the world. Andean people are still living here and building houses from totora (graminea). After a couple hour boat ride you will meet your native family on Amantani Island. Here you will spend time with a native family. For that you are going to break into small groups for different families and they will take you up to the top hills to see Pachatayta, which means the temple of father earth. At night yuo will enjoy a nice and native meal prepared by the host family, and you spend over night with the family.

Day 11: Taquile Island - Puno
After breakfast you’ll visit the main village plaza and tour its pre-Inca ruins. Then you have time before you return to Puno by afternoon. Later in Puno you are free to visit the local handicraft market. This is the very cheapest place to buy soft baby alpaca jumpers, scarves etc. Overnight in Puno.

Breakfasts, tourist bus from Cusco to Puno, Celet Hotel, English-speaking Guide, all transfers hotel to port, 2 day tour of Uros, Amantani and Taquile, all including entrance fee, food, and basic accommodation on Amantani Island.

Day 12: Puno to Lima
Transfer hotel to the airport in Juliaca. The Puno to Juliaca bus takes an hour. This is the nearest  airport to Puno. It's a 2 hour flight to Lima via Arequipa. Transfer in Lima from the airport to your hotel. Here you have an option tour of the City of Lima or may visit one of the excellent museums. In the evening we'll take you to the airport for your international flight back home.

Includes:
Transfer from hotel to Juliaca airport, flight Juliaca to Lima. Reception and transfer airport in Lima to hotel and back to Lima airport for your international flight. Accompanied to airport by  the Andean Discoveries guide, and say good bye to  your tour leader.

Tour does not include:
International flights or airport departure taxes. Allow US$10 for domestic flights and US$28 for your international departure.
