Kayaking on Lake Titicaca
Enjoy a relaxing paddle along the shore of the highest navigable lake in the world or opt for an expedition to one of Titicaca's majestic islands such as Taquile or Amantaní. Our 17-foot sea kayaks are equipped with rudders that allow for easy maneuvering and smooth tracking, which is especially helpful when paddling at over 12,000 feet above sea level. Keep your eyes peeled for flocks of cormorants, sea gulls, and other marine birds scouting for fresh fish, and observe native "Totora" reeds growing in their natural habitat. Kayak trips are usually combined with a family homestay in the village of Llachón on the Capachica Peninsula. Your generous homestay host will receive you like a member of the family, teach you about their ancient traditions and crafts, and serve you nourishing meals made with homegrown crops such as quinoa, maiz, and over nine varieties of potatoes.
