Lares Trek to Machu Picchu
Duration:
4 days / 3 nights
Distance:
18 km
Difficulty:
Medium
The Lares trek is one of the more popular Inca trail alternatives. It starts outside of the Machu Picchu Historic Sanctuary Park and interweaves mountain scenery, lagoons and beautiful valley landscapes with Andean Quechuan communities that intersect our path. (the area is well-known for their colorful textiles).
Less traversed than the Inca trail – the Lares trek is a great alternative if you prefer mountainous terrain and lakes to forests and rivers. This is a popular option if the Inca trail is booked out as well.
